Here we go again...
So now I have this big beautiful rosemary. I promised it that I would do my best to keep it alive and savor its loveliness in shepherd's pie, pot roast, stews, and soups. It's hanging in there. I'm not sure what sort of potting mix it's in, but the water runs straight through it. At some point in the next few days, I'm going to repot it in the potting soil we sell at work. It's lovely stuff with a wetting agent and we grow all our plants in it. Sadie the cat is intrigued by the rosemary, but has not nibbled too much. Will it survive the winter? We shall see.
I love rosemary and I need to plant a new bush this year. I sucessively killed about 7 rosemary plants prior to my two that are in the garden at the old house. So I need one for the new house. Looks awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteBought a lovely Rosemary shaped like a Xmas tree from Whole Foods around Thanksgiving. Alas the poor thing missed its daily drink (for a day or two, my bad)and just really couldn't be brought back from the brink. Undaunted I returned to Whole Foods and bought another one. Repotted it almost immediately in good old miracle grow potting soil and am this time trying very hard to be a better nanny. Time will tell but so far so good
ReplyDeleteAnd part of me says, if it's going to be this darn fussy, then I'll just buy the packaged rosemary on an as-needed basis. All the other houseplants are fairly indestructible (african violets, ivy, christmas cactus, etc.).
